Radisson BLU Leogrand Hotel: A Renovation and Restoration Project

Preserving the Past, Embracing the Future

The project, which started in January 2014 and concluded in December 2015, transformed the iconic local brand, Leogrand Hotel, into the Radisson BLU Leogrand Hotel. The designers were tasked with fulfilling the needs and expectations of the client and the branding company, making it the first global brand to establish a presence in Moldova.

The main design criteria were to integrate the new corporate identity and create a space that reflects the hotel's motto of being "Iconic, Stylish, and Sophisticated." The designers carefully refined every aspect of the hotel to align with this vision.

The Radisson BLU Leogrand Hotel boasts a total built-up area of 16,000 square meters spread across eight stories. The property features 143 rooms and suites, three restaurants, a pub, a wine shop, a spa-fitness and beauty center, six meeting rooms, and a convention center. The designers ensured that each area of the hotel exudes contemporary elegance and functionality.

One of the key challenges faced by the design team was coordinating and superposing the electrical and mechanical infrastructure during the renovation process. The hotel's systems had to be upgraded and integrated seamlessly to meet the new design requirements.

Throughout the design phase, the designers focused on preserving the embedded memories that were cherished by the hotel's previous guests. By combining a contemporary approach with the existing building's charm, the Radisson BLU Leogrand Hotel offers a unique and unforgettable experience for its visitors.

The design team, consisting of Levent Tümer and Durul Onaran, brought their expertise as interior architects to create a space that not only meets the needs of the client but also aligns with the global brand's standards. Their attention to detail and dedication to incorporating the new corporate identity into the existing structure resulted in a truly remarkable transformation.

The Radisson BLU Leogrand Hotel was recognized for its outstanding design and received the Iron A' Design Award in 2016. This prestigious award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The hotel's design showcases industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, contributing to a better world.
